Acquiring Engineering Jobs locally and abroad
Should acquiring Civil Engineering Jobs locally and abroad be as stringent as it currently is?, in terms of requirements for the job (which usually has a very huge difference) and securing an international work visa. the current situation deems it very hard for an African or to apply and secure work overseas, and contrary to that, overseas applicants can easily secure work in Africa. It goes without saying that the two extremities have very different ways of achieving certain jobs. A civil engineer having studied and worked in Africa will have a tough time working on a similar project abroad. this geographical gap within the civil engineering field has hindered the free movement of skills and expertise and in so doing impaired infrastructural development. There are millions of people with the right set of skills and expertise but due this geographical gap, find themselves confined to one place and unemployed due to the imbalanced ratio of jobs to professionals in that location. bridging the gap of a professional abroad and locally will see free movement of the right skills where there are needed and will minimise drastically the scramble for jobs to a specific location.
I would like to hear the thoughts and opinions of other's on this. There are individuals out there who have worked abroad and other's who have tried but with no luck, while others have a better understanding of the chasm between the two extremes. all your opinions are welcome.patrickmohasi@gmail.com 05 Oct 2017Add comment
